Viz is a British comic magazine founded in 1979 by Chris Donald. It parodies British comics of the post-war period, notably The Beano and The Dandy, but with vulgar language, toilet humour, black comedy, surreal humour and generally sexual or violent storylines.

Issue 1 came out in December 1979. Initially the magazine settled on the name 'Viz Comic' (issues 2 to 30, issue 31 was called 'Viz Bomic') in October 1988 (issue 32) it was shortened to just 'Viz', which it has remained ever since.
